What is Copywriting?

As per dropdeadcopy.com, "Copywriting is using words to persuade people to take some kind of action, such as clicking on an ad or purchasing a product."

Copywriting is one of the key skills needed in effective marketing. It is creative, has strategy and is eventually the core reason behind the call to action. As Daniel Olgivy say,"If it doesn't sell, it isn't creative".

Copywriting is persuasive and it intents to deliver value when it's needed to people who need it. It hence is highly dedicated and tied to call to action. So, it is about writing, but also is written to get attention. It can also be seen as a handshake where it is the first thing a customer or potential customer encounters in pre-sales and also maybe the last message post sales. Finally, Copywriting is also visually creative.

There are a lot of SEO copywriting e-books and tools that one can use to get started and running with copywriting. (Digital tools are usually sold by platforms like SendOwl).

Copywriting has mainly three kinds in marketing:

1. Collateral - includes brochures which usually serves as an introduction.

2. Medium - can be video, print, or online.

3. Style - can be straight shot or hard sell.

Each method has its own appealing approach, the only thing we need to decide on is our strategy and the results intended.
